The Food Scene in LoSo is Heating up!
The Charlotte food scene is getting more dynamic day by day and LoSo, AKA lower Southend, is no exception! Whether you're living at Ello House or looking to move in, you’ll notice it seems like everyday there is a new food joint popping up next door. With the influx of up and coming businesses it can be overwhelming to choose where to go and what to eat.
Hi! My name is Ashley and as a local “foodie” I’m here to share some of my favorite LoSo spots to help make your food decisions less daunting and inspire your taste buds!
One of my favorite new additions to LoSo is Supper Club. Chef Nolan has created a killer menu killer menu
and they’re serving up some upscale dishes like their Iberico Bellota pork chop and the Tomahawk ribeye. Personally, I am a fan of their bone marrow with red pepper jelly, the tempura eggplant and the smoked trout dip! If you want a good cocktail game this is your spot! They’ve taken cocktails to the next level with creations like the “It’s None of Your Business” with gin, green chartreuse, kiwi, lime and mint or the “In Your Dreams” with vodka, Cointreau, orange, vanilla and egg white. Did I mention they have 15,000 square feet of gaming space? Fulfill your inner child’s needs with a round of duck bowling, pool or shuffle board.
If you are craving patio vibes while enjoying great food you will love State of Confusion! The menu is a perfect blend of Latin American, southern and New Orleans inspired dishes—what a combination right? They make the freshest margaritas and mojitos on the block by using fresh sugar cane juice expelled right from the stalk each morning.
All the vibes can be found on their lower and upper level enormous patios. It’s the perfect hangout for people watching or soaking in the sunshine with a fresh drink in hand. Some of my favorite dishes include the mahi or shrimp ceviche, fried beef tacos, grilled chicken chimi salad and their fried chicken sandwich. They also serve weekend brunch!
There’s no shortage of breweries in the area either. Olde Meck Brewery is Charlotte oldest brewery and has stood then test of time for a reason. You’ll find steins filled to the brim and people enjoying german cuisine in their spacious beer garden year round. They also have events that locals flock to annually like Octoberfest and the Olde Meck Christmas Market. Other local favorites include Lower Left Brewing, Gilde, Sugar Creek and Protagonist (don’t leave without trying their pizza!).
If you’re looking to rock out, head over to Goldies where live music is always on the menu. Whether you’re a head banger or a honky tonk lover there is something for everyone to enjoy here. They have live music all day long, seven days and nights a week. They have two outdoor patios and inside you’ll find three different food menus to choose from. On a hot day their frozen drinks—The Mudslide and the Goldie’s Sunshine—will really hit the spot.
This list barely scratches the surface with all the hot spots around lower southend. I’d be remiss not to mention how amazing Rally Pickle ball is with their indoor and outdoor courts and huge lounge where you can sip on coffee flights or craft cocktails while refueling for your next match. And I can’t forget about Queen Park Social—the place to be if you’re looking to challenge friends to corn hole, hoop fever or late night bowling. Whether you have children or you are a big kid at heart, lower southend has something for everyone. It’s truly Charlotte backyard for fun.
One of my favorite things about Ello House luxury apartments is that it is so conveniently nestled right in the center of most of these wonderful food joints listed above. Everything you need for entertainment and nightlife is literally within walking distance--if you feel the need to leave the resort like complex, that is! Everyday Market Café: The Perk(s) of Living at Ello House
Imagine waking up to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air from right across the street. That's the perk (pun definitely intended) awaiting residents of Ello House, thanks to Everyday Market Café. This recently opened, community-focused café offers so much more than just a shot of espresso.
Step inside and you'll be greeted by the scent of baked-from-scratch pastries, the sight of gleaming chocolate delights, and the promise of smooth, handcrafted coffee drinks. But Everyday Market isn't just another basic coffee shop - it also has a cute little market section stocked with fresh ingredients to make an authentic Italian pasta dish. How's that for a one-stop shop?
